Subtitle Localization
Subtitle translation is constrained by time and context: a line must be readable within the original duration while preserving jokes and terminology. This skill uses transcription, glossary, compression and review.

Compress for reading speed
Target two to three words or four to five Chinese characters per second; if over duration, cut redundancy, use active voice and split lines instead of shrinking text. Keep lines under 42 characters.

FAQ
Is machine translation enough?
It works as a draft, but requires glossary consistency, timing compression and native review. Shipping raw machine subtitles usually damages trust.
Subtitles or dubbing first?
Validate content with subtitles first, then invest in dubbing. Subtitles are cheap and iterable; dubbing suits high-value long-form content.
