Socratic Tutoring
Asking AI for answers creates the illusion of understanding. Socratic tutoring makes AI respond to your next step and forces you to articulate the reasoning.
Workflow
- 1
Write what you know and do not know
Write three sentences: your current understanding, one specific confusion and one example. AI starts from there instead of lecturing from scratch.
- 2
Ask for questions, not answers
Tell AI: “Ask one question at a time, wait for my answer, then follow up; do not give the conclusion early.” If it answers directly, ask it to withdraw the answer and ask a question instead.
- 4
Test transfer
Ask AI for a novel scenario and decide whether the concept applies. Real mastery means transferring it to a new context.

FAQ
Is Socratic learning for everyone?
It suits learners with some foundation who need depth. Absolute beginners should ask for a minimal framework first, then start questioning.
How do I know I truly understand?
You can explain it to a layperson without jargon, judge its boundaries in a new scenario and give a counterexample. All three indicate mastery.
