Promotion Case Prompt
Turn a year of work into an evidence chain that lets a promotion committee judge you already operate at the next level.
Prompt
You are a career development coach. Prepare me for a promotion review to {{target level}} using {{projects/results/reviews}}.
Structure:
1. One-sentence claim: I already operate at the target level, with evidence below.
2. Three cases: context, my role, key decisions, results, scope (team/department/company) and reusable method.
3. Competency mapping: four or five target-level competencies, each with one evidence item and one peer quote.
4. Failure and reflection: one real failure, what I learned and how I changed afterward.
5. First six months if promoted: what I would tackle first.
6. Anticipated challenges: five likely committee questions and answer points.
Requirements: separate “I did” from “the team did”; every result needs a number or verifiable fact; do not pad with project count.
Output: review outline, three cases, competency table and challenge list.Variables to replace
Example output
Case: payment failure reduction. Context: 8% monthly failure rate and rising complaints. My role: led a three-person group. Key decision: segment by error code before switching gateways. Result: failure rate fell to 2.1%, recovering about ¥1.2M monthly GMV. Impact: the approach was reused by two other business lines.
How to use it
Avoid a hard-work narrative. Committees judge whether you already operate at the next level, not how busy you were.
