A database built to store vectors and retrieve them by similarity.

Vector databases support approximate nearest-neighbor search over large vector sets. Options include pgvector, Milvus, Qdrant and Weaviate. For small datasets, pgvector is often enough; do not start with a dedicated database by default.
Example
Store 100k knowledge chunks in pgvector and retrieve by cosine similarity.
